Cellulite Reduction - Innovative Solutions

Health Spa Directories Canada

The term cellulite is said to have originated in France more than 150 years ago. In more recent times, VOGUE Magazine in a 1970's issue dubbed this unsightly fat cellulite. Descriptive names for cellulite have since evolved to include, orange peel syndrome, cottage cheese skin, and dimples, to name a few.

According to the dictionary cellulite is a popular term for fat that is difficult to remove by dieting and that often has a dimpled appearance. There is no physiological difference between cellulite and ordinary fat. Mostly because cellulite is just plain old fat pressing through the layers of connective tissues beneath the skin.

Today the experts tell us that nine out of 10 women have cellulite. What is cellulite? Composed of fat and fibrous tissue, cellulite deposits and their characteristic dimpling effect can occur regardless of weight or body size. While harmless, the dimpled appearance is a cause of concern for some people. The alteration in skin contour can be severe enough to cause some people significant personal and social distress.

What causes it? Despite its frequency, there is no uniform understanding of cellulite. Eating a healthy, well balanced diet that is low in fat, drinking plenty of water and getting exercise on a regular basis may help in the reduction of cellulite and minimize the dimpling effect. As regular exercise and eating well are good for overall health and wellness by preventing the build up of fat and so less likely to form fat deposits or cellulite.

Cellulite generally appears around the thighs, buttocks and abdominal regions of post-adolescent women. Fortunately, new advances and the modern spa now have many techniques, remedies and innovative equipment that can reduce the appearance of cellulite. The spa offers many opportunities to experience therapeutic and advanced cellulite treatments.

Treatments can range from high tech, non-surgical ultrasound procedures to more a holistic method, such as lymphatic massage therapy - all these treatments can temporarily, yet effectively reduce the appearance of cellulite,
