:: Spas in Canada - Relax, Renew and Rejuvenate at the spa.
Developed over several thousand years, TCM informs that processes of the human body are interrelated and constantly interact with the environment. Therefore, we can look for signs of disharmony in the external and internal environment of a person in order to understand, treat and prevent illness and disease.
The theory of the Five Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water

Wood: Spring Season, green, liver (yin) and gallbladder (yang).
During this season there is a burst of energy resulting in a yin contraction. The weather starts to warm, reproduction in the plant and animal kingdom rise as does the energy level in most people. Green symbolizes the sprouting of new life during Springtime.
Fire: Summer Season; red; heart (yin) and small intestine (yang).
This season is marked by yang energy reaching its fullest while yin energy is at its lowest. The weather is hot, symbolized by the colour red.
Earth: Transitional Season; yellow; spleen (yin) and stomach (yang).
The Chinese believe that at the end of each calendar season energies return back to Earth for transformation before emerging as the energies of the next season. These four in-between periods last 18 days each and are represented by the colour of earth - yellow.
Metal: Fall Season; white and blue; lungs (yin) and large (yang).
During Fall yin energy expands and yang energy winds down.
Cooler weather returns and both animals and plants prepare to slow down and become inactive.
Water: Winter Season; black and violet; kidney (yin) and bladder (yang).
The peak of yin energy and the lowest point of yang energy characterize winter. The weather is at its coldest, nights are longer, plant and animal activity decreases and people tend to be sluggish.
