Shiatsu - a traditional hands-on
Japanese healing therapy
A deeply relaxing experience, regular Shiatsu sessions,
can help to prevent the build up of the stress we all experience in
our daily lives. It is useful in treating a wide range of
conditions – from specific injuries to more general
symptoms of poor health.
Shiatsu is a therapy that
works on the individual as a complete being – not just
the physical body but also on an emotional and/or mental level. The philosophy underlying Shiatsu is that vital
energy flows throughout the body in a series of channels
known as meridians. This energy it is believed must flow freely
throughout the body to promote good health and vitality.
The Shiatsu practitioner may use an appropriate variety
of techniques to improve the energy flow. These may include,
pressing with the palms, thumbs, fingers, elbows, knees and
feet on the meridians and may also include more dynamic rotations
and stretches.
Conditions helped by Shiatsu treatments include:
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Tiredness
- Back pain
- Stress
- Insomnia
- Poor digestion
- Many other conditions
