LAURA GOBBO,  FRUITION DAY SPA COMING TO FRUITION  

The dictionary defines fruition as “pleasure that comes from possession or use., enjoyment, the condition of having results, attainment”. 

For Blanche Macdonald grad and spa owner, Laura Gobbo, Fruition Day Spa in North Vancouver is all that.  For her spa clients, Fruition Day Spa is all

that, too. After training in marketing at BCIT, Gobbo was ready to put her people skills and love of beauty and fashion to work for her. 

How did she choose the Esthetics program at BMC?  “I had taken the modelling courses at Blanche Macdonald when I was a teenager and heard that they had an excellent Esthetics course from friends.  I also called other schools and was a little unsure of their courses as so many of them did not have a set curriculum”, says Gobbo.  While training at the Blanche Macdonald Centre, Gobbo worked at a corporate gift giving business, creating and designing awards for corporations. 

After graduating from the Centre’s Esthetic program in 1996, Laura started Fruition as a mobile esthetics business, working with clients in their own homes and working in a local spa for four years.  Did she feel prepared?

“Quality training is a must in our line of work".  As a former graduate of Blanche Macdonald, I know their students are provided with a high level of esthetics training, given a well-rounded skill set and are taught to conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism. Attributes for which I, as an employer, look for.   I trust the training that they are given at Blanche Macdonald.  It makes my own training program much easier to integrate”, says Gobbo. 

In 2001, Laura Gobbo opened Fruition Day Spa in scenic Deep Cove with a mandate  to provide top quality spa services at affordable prices and provide people with a place to relax and forget about their busy lives.  It is her esthetics expertise and small touches such as little chocolates on pillows or warm lavender neck wraps that make Fruition the success is it today. 

Laura Gobbo has been described in Fashion Magazine as “a paddle and polish master”. “ Her pedicures have survived weeks of sand and surf, but it’s her almost painless, ultra-quick waxing that warrants a trip to this quaint, friendly spa" enthuses the magazine.  Throughout her career, Laura has felt and feels support from Blanche Macdonald.  “I have always kept in contact with Debbie.  She has been a wonderful resource when I am looking for references and new staff, says Gobbo.

Laura has built  a solid, loyal clientele with her personalized and professional services. She is now starting to franchise Fruition Day Spas.  She’s on her way to seeing her dreams come to fruition!
